musings on wineskins

Selfward hearts renewed by Your touch

            Become ready wineskins

            Awaiting the rich new wine

                        The Spirit outpours.

Thirsting for Truth

We draw near Your

Wellspring of grace deep within us

                        Released at last.

We are made in Your image but

            Our capacities remain hidden until

We are ready for the scales to fall from

                        Re-focused eyes.

New-bright eyes see endless spaces in which to

            Pour love. New wineskins

Are meant to pour out new wine for

                        All who thirst.

To quote you in your beautiful reflection, “Your Wellspring of grace deep within us Released at last.”

I say, Yes, at last, at last. Alleluia! Amen.

And to quote you again, “New wineskins Are meant to pour out new wine for All who thirst.”

I imagine the new wine you write of being poured into the wineskins of all who thirst as you do, who then pour into those of even more who thirst, and so on and on through the end of time - like water in a fountain falling from tier to tier to tier. How bountiful the running laughing splashing wine on its way to the end of time.

Thank you for sharing your poetry. Thank you for the launch of my own imagination.

Well, AF, you are no fool at all, with the beautiful vision you described. Yes, the wine is poured out through us, from one soul to another, until the end of time.

It is amazing that God - Who needs none of us - chooses to use us to reach one another, to love others through us, to bring the truth to others through us.

He wants us to participate in the Redemption, to share with us the glory of the deep Mystery of Salvation…

KathrynTherese, Hi again!

In general tems I tend to think God does need us, all of us, but it does depends on the context, I realize.

What I’m really writing to offer, though, is another affirmation. Yes, yes, yes! The new wine we’ve been describing IS the love and truth through us, to others! It is life, too. Letting us participate in the glory of Redemption, as you say - how wonderful for us!

Your way with truth and words is wonderful.
