I am rated a “book snob.” If I hadn’t strolled into the midst of a 4-gorilla chest-thumping/rushing rage at the store tonight, I’d be inclined to argue the ratings with the quiz generator, but I’m tired.

What are we all reading?

I’m reading Abbot Joseph’s 2nd book, trying to read B16’s Jesus.., tapping into some poetry here and there, and for mindless fun (ok, so I’m a book snob), a collection of literary anecdotes –never all on the same night.

Yes, what ARE we reading (besides all the things I have to read for teaching around here; I don’t often have the chance to read anything above the 6th grade level!)?

I’m reading “At the Center of the Human Drama - the Philosophical Anthropology of Karol Wojtyla” by Kenneth Schmitz(for the second time), the Navarre Bible Commentary on St. Paul’s Captivity Epistles, and Herodotus’ Histories (with the high schooler).

At the rate at which I am able to read these, I expect these to take me through the end of the year and beyond…

I’m re-reading Merton, a bit here, a bit there. A bit in Italian, a bit in English.

And I’ve taken up Russian again. I read and do grammar exercises while I wait for Lory to finish soccer practice. We’re doing business with the Ukraine and Kazakhstan, so it’ll be useful to brush up a bit.

I turned out to be an obsessive-compulsive as well, with dedicated coming in second and literate good citizen third. I’m one of those who always has quite a few books on the go at once, spread all over several tables. I’ve always been like that to a certain degree, but it’s become moreso since blogging. Discussions in comboxes and peoples’ posts often trigger me to take things off the bookshelf; the intention is to check something or reflect on a few passages, but then I become immersed in the book again!
