Exhaling

The sky is the only omnipresence we all accept. So look up!

All things ridiculous, combined

Her Most Serene Highness Lady Kathryn the Imposing of Lower Wombleshire,

the hippie chick :)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Here’s a view of Lower Wombleshire, Lady Kathryn presiding over the court of birds and clouds. And one little sister.

(Lest I mislead you, I should make clear that this pic is several decades old)

Well, the hairdo leads me to believe you might’ve thought about trying a Duran Duran number, but actually went with the trusted “Michael, Row Your Boat Ashore,” after all. Yes?

Duran Duran? No.
Probably something from Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Or maybe Simon and Garfunkel. Or even James Taylor.

I was not yet singing “What Wondrous Love Is This”, but could well have been strumming away to “Imagine.”

Squarely in my existentialist phase, here.

Leaving my unruly curls unruly.

I don’t even know how I came across this picture just now. It just seemed so fitting to post after my hippie chick name.
But looking at it reminds me of how good God is, to save us from ourselves and all the thoughts we’ve thought were so deep, but were really just downward spirals into emptiness - like an auger running too deep in loose soil and the whole thing caves in.

When it caves, we think we are buried and smothered in darkness. But no. God saves. Love reaches down and offers a Wounded Hand to pull us up, if only we will reach out of our hole and grab on to It.

Aw, you were (and are) so cute.

Waitaminit, waitaminit– you aren’t old enough to have been listening to those songs you mentioned!

Ahh, I love naturally unruly curls– otherwise, we’re talking stick-straight-nightmare-wannabes-of-Toni-home-perms (the smells of hell set with boiling water, rolled into cerebellum-yanking curlers, then cooked under a hood. Talk about WMDs–I should be ET today; also, it rankled a bit whenever an expressman tossed little brown treats from atop his pony..)

Yes, God saves, but I’m not sure you should rue anything that led up to who you are today. And I’m not sure anything was ever empty.

Ha ha! I may not be old enough, but I was cool enough. Hippie was still cool in the 70s and 80s where I come from.

And you are right, we should not regret whatever made us what we are, though we can be grateful we are not what we once were! I am grateful I am not still lost in an existential emptiness.

God is good, all the time.

I’m grateful that I’m not what I once was, too. Tho’ I do miss the heart-thundering thrills of young butterflyhood, albeit a weird barefooted one decked out in carnations and tie-dyed dress. (If memory serves, that was after the Nehru jacket.)

Amen, God is good, all the time.

I think it’s a sweet picture, just hanging out on the porch, enjoying being outdoors, making music. All of it becoming a part of who you grew into being.

What is WMD? I don’t trust myself to guess!

:=( Wow.. it’s an American thing, huh? WMD is weapon of mass destruction.

Aaaaah. I never would have known that. But that’s probably just me. :)
